It's finally spring! I've been working on collaging some small pieces to adorn the tops of boxed lunches that will be sold on Garden Day in Lynchburg. A bit faster than stitching them, although a few did get some stitching anyways. Virginia celebrates Garden Week Apr 26-May 3, 2014, and Lynchburg's day is always on a Tuesday, this year April 29. Some beautiful homes and gardens and historic sites will be open for touring that day.
This year, as last, the Lynchburg Art Club is painting lunchboxes. The boxed lunches ( and the boxes themselves) are available by reservation in advance for $17.50 each, 434-528-9434 to reserve. I have been sneaking peeks at some of the finished beauties, and they are lovely.

I'm finding mixed media a wonderful break from the stitching. I recently took an encaustics class, and have scheduled a vitreous enamelling class later this month. I like talking to artists in different media, looking at art in a different way.
